Local Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the German municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Vehicles, building surfaces and mailboxes were vandalized, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they stated in a statement.
Officers state they were contacted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a man discovered that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued fluid.
The fluid had been drawn in the pattern of a banned symbol, they reported.
Officers then located many other marked cars and residential walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Police state early analysis show the fluid was likely human bodily fluid.
"There is still no lead as to its origin; authorities are currently not cognizant of any injuries in relation with the event," they commented.
City officials stated they were working "to resolve the incident" and have appealed to the community for tips.
A high-ranking representative commented the incident made him without words and required to be resolved rapidly.
"This incident strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reopens the pain of the right-wing terrorist attack in 2020," he stated on a platform, recalling the killing of nine victims by a gunman focusing on people of foreign heritage in five years prior.
